Prime Discount for Medicaid Recipients

Offers Prime Discount for Medicaid Recipients

SEATTLE — Amazon has had no problem getting affluent households to buy from its online store. But people with low incomes have been less loyal to the retailer.
Now, Amazon is taking another step to persuade them to spend their money on the site.
Starting Tuesday, the company will offer a discount on its Prime membership program to the millions of recipients of Medicaid, the public health insurance program for low-income Americans. They can receive the benefits of Prime — including free fast shipping and video streaming — for $5.99 a month, less than half the standard monthly fee of $12.99.
The move expands an effort started last year, when Amazon started offering the Prime discount to people with electronic benefit transfer cards, used to distribute aid for food purchases.
The push is a further effort by Amazon to go after shoppers who favor Walmart, which has long been a go-to destination for people on tight budgets. AlixPartner, a financial advisory firm, estimates that Walmart accounts for 18 percent of annual spending through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the formal name for food stamps.

How to learn to write quality articels on Blog

We need to know that a website can be called qualified if it contains quality content. With quality content then the website will be authoritative. Surely traffic will also be high. To add to our knowledge in terms of writing, do not forget to sempatkan also read What's a quality article like? Quality articles are articles liked by our own, liked by readers, favored by search engines and original articles. If the article is not original (copy paste) then the article is not favored by the owner of the work and is not preferred search engines, so can not be called qualified. Moreover if a full copy paste, then it will only make the website has no authority at all despite high bertrafik.
Why is it called a quality article?
1. Any bad writing on the article if it is our own work, then we will judge it as a quality article. Because we will be proud of our own work, can train our brains smartly because it is often used to think, can save us from plagiarism allegations, and so on.
2. So is the reader. Anything ugly if it can answer questions that readers are looking for, can entertain the reader, can add insight for readers, then the article will be rated quality by the reader because it can provide benefits for them.
3. Search engines or search engines too. As bad as any of our writing if it is original, there is no duplicate before, does not confuse search engines in seo, does not infringe copyright, then search engines will rank as quality articles and deserve to appear in quality places as well or on the first page of search results.
How to create a quality article?
1. To get started, write an article about the things we know best. For example the skills or skills that we have in everyday life. Then the article will have a maximum quality than articles that are not from the expertise that we have.
2. Increase our expertise by frequently reading articles on other blogs to keep our brains running in place. So later our experience will increase so that our expertise will also increase. Furthermore, the skills we have gradually can we write in the next article.
3. Never feel smart so we do not stop to learn. Keep looking for things that we do not know yet. Later our article will be more qualified and perfect and has added value. And we will certainly be able to answer questions from readers, because all articles come from our own brains, not from other people's brains. Well, with the above tips then our blog will be filled by quality articles. The result, no doubt traffic will continue to increase, favored search engines and also favored the reader. We will definitely be happy and will give a five star rating. And that's exactly what we're looking for.

true or false:Is China Destined to Dominate Tech?

The digital world relies on data, and no one produces more of it than China's 1.4 billion internet users. The vast wealth of information these users emit has helped Chinese tech companies become some of the world's best, and led to speculation that China will inevitably dominate future technologies, such as artificial intelligence. But this is almost certainly mistaken. Data, it turns out, isn't destiny.
Even in the digital age, data may have a declining utility. Tech companies already have millions of users. To believe that China will have a significant advantage due to its population size requires us to believe that each additional user adds as much to an informational ecosystem as the first one. If that were true, then India -- with nearly as many internet users as China -- should be just as likely to be the next world leader.
In reality, a data set's usefulness can face diminishing returns to scale. Twitter Inc., with some 300 million active monthly users, faces nearly no data disadvantage against WeChat, with 1 billion users. Although a larger sample size will generally include more significant correlations, the probability of finding statistical significance at 1 billion users but not 300 million is effectively zero. Plus, larger populations tend to be more susceptible to false positives.
Tech companies, moreover, don't crunch data in simplistic ways. They commonly use a technique called clustering, for instance, in which users are lumped together based on their commonalities. Rather than relying on blunt-force statistics, clustering separates people into refined groups that can be more precisely targeted. This leads to more efficiency and better results. Often, the sophistication of the clustering model is more important than the size of the data set.
Perhaps most important, humans still matter. A huge data set isn't worth much without skilled workers to distill it and extract insights. Dating sites are continually updating their algorithms to account for what people say they want in a partner, for instance. But it turns out that what they don't say can be just as important, if not more so. Algorithms are poorly suited for understanding such behavior. Past a certain point, more data is useless without people who can make sense of it.
In this world, China faces some steep challenges.
One is attracting talent. Although China has a burgeoning tech scene, high-level data scientists are in short supply. The Communist Party has been struggling to lure tech workers from abroad, despite offering generous incentives. This is largely due to China's internet restrictions: In addition to blocking popular sites such as YouTube, the government also prevents access to software libraries like Github and academic sites like Google Scholar. Given a choice, top technologists will look elsewhere.
Another concern is privacy. Because China's privacy laws aren't strictly enforced, tech companies can monitor their users intensively, offering them an advantage in everything from optimizing ads to assessing credit risk. As one executive put it, these companies "know where you've traveled, what movies you saw, what restaurants you ate at." This intense surveillance may be a growing liability, however. A significant consumer backlash is building in China, driven partly by ubiquitous fraud and identity theft. And Chinese tech companies are running into stiff resistance when trying to expand into more privacy-conscious markets overseas.
This raises a final concern. Chinese tech firms are largely confined to China, where they're protected from competition. This gives them a dominant market position and other advantages. But a platform that censors searches for Winnie the Poohsimply isn't going to be competitive overseas. Google and Facebook Inc., with much more international experience, have proven adept at understanding a global audience and picking up on diverse socio-cultural norms. Extracting ever more data from local users won't help Chinese companies compete at that level.
Data is the lifeblood of the digital world. But learning how to use it requires human talent, insight and creativity. In that race, China's tech giants still have a ways to go.

WAO ASKLOADED IS BACK WITH 9Mobile Awoof Data: ₦200/1GB And ₦1000/5GB

While some of you are still lamenting over insufficient data and how normal MTN data zaps on time, 9mobile has finally made this offer official 1GB for N200.
You’ll recall that during the Sallah celebration (Ramadan Kareem), 9mobileintroduced special Ramadan offer that gives you N200 for 1GB and 5GB for N1000. Now it has been made official and anyone can just subscribe to the package.
9mobile network is quite fast in some location but not all. If you are seeing 4G LTE appear on your smart device, then you can try out this plan. The validity period for this data is 3 days. Once it expire, you can sub again and again until you see the need to change.
However, those of you complaining of the inhuman exceptional zapping of the newly introduced MTN data offer that gives extra 500MB can simply go with this offer… 5GB for N1000 in 15days.
Simply dial *929*10# to get activated… and dial *228# for data balance.
No tweak required, no vpn required and it works on all devices including the old chincoberry.

Unbelievable Things You Never Knew Your Smartphone Could Do

From selfies to causing trouble on Facebook and sometimes being savages on twitter, keeping up with our favorite Celebs and trolling them once in a while grin Our smartphone helps us to all that. Apart from all that, there are a couple of amazing things your smartphone could do that you never knew.

1. Function As A 3D scanner

The Institute for Visual Computing at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) created an app that lets you scan a 3D object by simply moving your smartphone around it. A 3D model of the object appears on the screen and shows you whether you missed anything. It can also determine the absolute size of the scanned object. You can use this app to capture faces for 3D portraits or simply to copy real-world objects for later study or 3D printing.

E.g – 3DSCANN

2. Test for STDs

A dongle or attachment which performs the functions of a lab-based blood test—specifically, an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)—to test for HIV antibodies and two types of syphilis antibodies can be plugged in to a smartphone. Researchers have recently tested it in Clinics in Rwanda that work to prevent mother-to-child-transmission and in voluntary counseling and testing centers. It costs just $34 unlike the $18,450 for the original ELISA equipment, this device could aid in early diagnosis and treatment of these illnesses in developing countries.

(not yet available for public use)

3. Give You Instant Eyeglass Prescriptions

Having issues with your eyes? Don’t worry, Smart Vision Labs developed the SVOne, a pocket-sized device that can measure the refractive errors in the eye and shows you a digital eyeglass prescription on your smart phone.

The company founders want the app to be used by doctors with multiple offices or limited space and to serve patients who have problems with traditional machinery or have difficulties with mobility. It’ll really work out in many developing countries where millions lack eye care. According to the World Health Organization, 90 percent of the world’s visually impaired people live in low-income settings with no eye doctors available and that uncorrected refractive errors are the main cause of moderate and severe visual impairment globally.

E.g – EyeXam

4. Track Your Cholesterol Levels

Engineers at Cornell University developed an app – the Smartphone Cholesterol Application for Rapid Diagnostics, or smartCARD, to test cholesterol levels. You clamp the device, similar to a credit card reader, over your phone’s camera then place a drop of your blood, sweat or saliva on the strip. Insert the strip into the device, a built-in flash illuminates the strip and an app matches the image’s color values and shows results on the phone.

(app not yet available for public use)

5. Check If You’re Mentally Stable grin grin
(actually assess your mental health)

Researchers at Dartmouth University created an Android app that can analyze the smartphone owner’s state of mind. The app automatically measures your sleep duration, number and length of conversations per day, physical activity, locations and time spent there, stress level, eating habits and more—24/7 and without user interaction. It uses Computational method and machine learning algorithms on the phone then assesses the data and make high-level inferences about sleep, sociability, activity, and other behaviors. The app can be used to provide real-time feedback on safety in schools and stress levels and assess the quality of teaching. It can also be used to monitor mental health, trigger intervention, and improve productivity in the workplace as well.

E.g – Mental Health Test App,

6. Help You Stay Away From Alcohol

Hey!! Don’t touch that bottle of stout.. wink

The Addiction-Comprehensive Health Enhancement Support System smartphone app has designed for people with alcohol problems and sounds an alert if you stray near a high-risk location, such as a bar they previously frequented. People who used the app reported drinking less. People using the app also were more likely to consistently abstain from alcohol.

e.g – Sobriety,

7. Show You Where Gunshots Originated

Vanderbilt University’s group of Researchers turned an Android smartphone into a simple shooter location system. The smartphone app uses external sensors, with the size of a pack of cards, containing microphones and a processor that detects the gunshot’s acoustic signature and exact time. The processor sends that information to the smartphone, and transmits it to other modules and uses triangulation to pinpoint the origin of the gunshot. It would work out well for the Nigerian Police.

(app not yet released for public use yet)

8. Improve Your Hearing Aid

A smartphone app could help improve the quality of life of people who use hearing aids. Most hearing aids in order to remain small and low-cost typically use small processors. Smartphones, on the other hand, have powerful processors, large memories, microphones, speakers, wireless technology and long-lasting batteries, which can improve the performance of hearing assistive devices. For example, a smartphone could run sophisticated algorithms to distinguish background noise signals and enhance speech.

E.g – TextHear, Earshots

The apps added to the posts are just examples not the exact app. The functionalities are almost the same but not exact. Most of the apps are still being tested. You can look them up on YouTube if you need more details and possibly a link

Awoof MTN 500MB Data (Awoof)

For those of us who has been following this blog for sometime now, you would agree with me that we posted and enjoyed this plan from MTN called Quick WinD last year but it’s obvious that very few persons are aware of it hence we are coming up with this awareness to let more people know about it and how to get it on their respective MTN lines.
With MTN Quick WinD you get 500MB for just N100 . YES it’s as cheap as that. It is not a cheat or tweak, rather it’s an official data bundle provided by MTN to some select customers, in other words, it’s not meant for all MTN SIM cards. As you can observe, virtually all tech blogs in Nigeria are talking about this plan at the moment because it’s features cannot be overemphasized.
FEATURES OF MTN QUICK WIND
Bundle cost 100 Naira for N500MB
The bundle can be use on all devices including the newly introduce nokia 3310 with operamin browser as well as all Android, iPhones, iPad, tablets, dongles, modem etc
No VPN required or any tunneling applications
It works during the day and night
Validity period is 7days or 168hours
It doesn’t supports all sim chip
HOW TO ACTIVATE MTN QUICK WIND
You should have at least N100 in your MTN line.
Then dial this code *446*11*4*7*5#
You will receive a confirmation message if it’s successful and your 500MB will be given to you.
HOW CAN I CHECK THE BALANCE?
Dial *559# or *559*2#
HOW TO KNOW IF YOUR SIM IS ELIGIBLE
If you get “Y’ello, your subscription on Quick WinD 500MB fails”, lt means that sim is not eligible for the offer.
Try on another MTN sim card and pray it’s successful. Note, only few MTN lines are eligible for this offer.

Google's Plan to Build Ad-Blocking Into Chrome Could Be a Very Good Thing

Google's Plan to Build Ad-Blocking Into Chrome Could Be a Very Good Thing

It’s not just you, online ads are getting worse. Auto-play video has become a standard, pop-ups are back in a big way and those inline ads seem accidentally clickier all the time. According to the wall street journal Google is well aware of this and it’s planning to add a built-in ad blocker to the Chrome browser. If the plan is handled correctly, it could force sites to give everyone a better experience. But that’s a big “if.”

But why would a company that makes billions on advertising add a feature to its own free product that would block advertising? Simply put, Google doesn’t want more people downloading ad-blockers that it has no control over. Google has seen the reports that as many as 26% of desktop users have some sort of software to hide advertisements and it doesn’t want that number getting any larger.
The online analytics firm StatCounter claims that Chrome has gobbled up a little over 52 percent of the worldwide browser market share. Its closest competitor is Safari with 14 percent and the rest are struggling with single digits. If Google decides that its browser will only allow ads that meet those predetermined standards, any website that wants to survive will comply.
Another thing that Google doesn’t like is that services like Adblock plus offer programs that allow companies to pay their way onto an “Acceptable Ads” list. The search giant currently pays Adblock Plus’s parent company for exactly that. But that also raises some alarm bells when it comes to Google’s consolidation of power in this situation. Would Chrome ever offer its own whitelisting service or will it stick to predefined standards set by an independent organization?
If implemented correctly, this feature wouldn’t just benefit Google. All online users would get a better experience and fewer people would download ad blockers. Considering that most of the world’s major websites live and die based on ads (including this one), this is an effort to save the web as we know it.

Review: Samsung Galaxy S8+

Review: Samsung Galaxy S8+

Big-screened flagship makes most other flagships feel nothing short of dated

THE SAMSUNG GALAXY S8 AND S8+ are finally official and are exactly what we were all expecting thanks to the huge number of leaks and rumours building up to the launch.
We've rounded up everything you need to know about the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, and will update this article as soon as we hear more.

alt=''

The Galaxy S8+ comes in at 6.2in, dwarfing the 5.7in LG G6.
In fact, based purely on numbers, this is the biggest smartphone screen on the market right now in the UK. Get it in your hand though and you'll soon realise, it's actually not that big.
Indeed, its about on-par with the 5.5in iPhone 7 Plus when it comes to in-hand comfort. Yep, you read that right. Samsung has made the 0.7in difference in screen size between this and an iPhone 7 Plus feel negligible and it's a beautiful thing.
By removing the home button and fingerprint scanner combination and including a curved screen, the Galaxy S8 series has a better screen to bezel ratio than any other mainstream device at 84 per cent.
At 8.1mm thin, with curved Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back, combined with a metal frame, the Galaxy S8+ also feels sleek and expensive.
Couple the design with IP68-standard water and dust resistance as well as the usual array of ports, including a USB-C and the all-important 3.5mm headphone jack, and it's clear Samsung hasn't had to make any major sacrifices to achieve this ground-breaking design.
The fingerprint scanner placement is now to the right of the camera surround. With both scanner and camera feeling virtually identical when you slide your finger over the smooth glass back, trying to unlock the Samsung Galaxy S8+ with a fingerprint is now a bad user experience.
Given how integral biometric security is to phones today, poor fingerprint scanner placement could be a deal breaker for many, and as responsive as it is, thanks to the illogical position, using it is a bit rubbish.
As a result, the Samsung Galaxy S8+'s design is second to none in terms of fit and finish, but this one design shortcoming is also the phone's Achilles heel.
Display
The 18.5:9 screen measures 6.2in, making it instantly striking. This is one very big, very long display.
Adding to the impact is the AMOLED technology inside, paired with the wide quad HD resolution of 1440x2960. The Samsung Galaxy S8+ screen is punchy, deep and very sharp, all at the same time, showing off everything from the user interface through to apps, games and movies to perfection.
alt=''
With a curved display, it has much of the same wow-factor as the S7 Edge, only this time, adding rounded corners to the mix too.
The S8+ supports advanced screen features, such as a blue light filter for eye protection and colour balance controls, ensuring you can fine-tune the look and feel to suit you.
